Hoagland to build and manage equity and fixed income portfolios for individuals, trusts, corporations and tax-exempt organizations. Almost 30 years later, the firm maintains its strong commitment to confidential, interactive relationships with clients.

David C. Anderson
David Anderson is the founder and president of Anderson, Hoagland & Company, Inc. He has a B.S. in Business Administration from Northwestern University (1967, with distinction) and an M.B.A. from the Harvard Graduate School of Business (1969, with high distinction; Baker Scholar).

From 1969 until 1975, Mr. Anderson was a portfolio manager for Irwin Management Company, the family office for the J. Irwin Miller family of Columbus, Indiana, major shareholders of the Cummins Engine Company. From 1975 until 1980, he was Director of Retirement Funds Management and sole Trustee for all pension plans at the McDonnell Douglas Corporation in St. Louis with responsibility for supervising the investment of over $1.85 billion in assets.

Mr. Anderson founded the firm in 1980 with Laurance R. Hoagland Jr., who in 1991 accepted the position of Chief Executive Officer of the Stanford Management Corporation. Mr. Anderson has been a Chartered Financial Analyst since 1975.

Craig C. Hoagland
Mr. Hoagland joined Anderson Hoagland in 1996. He has a B.A. in Economics (with honors and distinction) from Stanford University (1987, Phi Beta Kappa) and an M.T.A., also from Stanford University (1993). Mr. Hoagland also completed the Finance Core of study at the Stanford Graduate School of Business during his undergraduate tenure.

From 1987 until 1992, Mr. Hoagland served as a management consultant in the San Francisco office of Bain & Company. Project activities spanned many corporate functions, including equity valuation, plant floor operations, market forecasting, executive compensation, customer segmentation, business unit reorganization, and inventory management.

During 1992, Mr. Hoagland worked in Warsaw, Poland, where he was employed by Company Assistance Limited, a firm consulting to state enterprises preparing for privatization. From 1993 until 1996, Mr. Hoagland taught mathematics in the public schools in Palo Alto, California.

Mr. Hoagland has been a Chartered Financial Analyst since 1999.

Laurance R. (“Lee”) Hoagland III
Mr. Hoagland joined Anderson Hoagland in 1992. He has a B.A. in Economics (with honors and distinction) from Stanford University (1985, Phi Beta Kappa) and an M.B.A. from the Harvard Graduate School of Business (1990).

From 1985 until 1991, except for 2 years at the Harvard Business School, Mr. Hoagland served as an investment analyst at the Prudential Investment Corporation in Newark, New Jersey. Prudential Investment Corporation is the institutional investment arm of the Prudential Insurance Company of America with total assets under management of over $250 billion. While at Prudential, Mr. Hoagland rotated through several assignments, including municipal bond analyst, stock trader, assistant to a portfolio manager and corporate finance analyst responsible for a portfolio of private debt and equity investments totaling approximately $1 billion.

Mr. Hoagland has been a Chartered Financial Analyst since 1991.

John J. Kang
Mr. Kang joined Anderson Hoagland in 2008. He has a B.S. in Business Administration (Accounting) from Washington University (1985) and a J.D. from the Saint Louis University School of Law (1995, cum laude).

From 1985 until 1992, Mr. Kang served as an auditor and management consultant in the St. Louis office of KPMG (formerly Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co.). While at KPMG, Mr. Kang served 2 years rotating through various audit engagements and 5 years in the firm’s financial institutions consulting practice. Consulting engagements involved studying and improving cash management practices, check processing, loan collection operations, trust operations and collateral insurance programs.

Mr. Kang was engaged in practice as an attorney from 1995 until 1999, specializing in federal estate and gift tax planning, trusts, estates and probate. From 1999 until 2001, Mr. Kang was the Director of Advanced Planning for the Hempstead Agency of Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company in St. Louis where he specialized in the application of life insurance in estate planning for high net worth individuals.

From 2001 until 2008, Mr. Kang was Managing Director and Senior Trust Officer for The Private Bank and Trust Company of Chicago, Illinois, with responsibilities for managing the company’s trust and investment management business in St. Louis. Mr. Kang has been a Certified Public Accountant (inactive) and a licensed attorney (Missouri, not engaged in private practice) since 1995.

Judith A. Shehan
Ms. Shehan joined Anderson Hoagland in 2008 as the firm’s Office Administrator. She has an Associate Degree in Business from the Jackson County Community College (Altus, Oklahoma).

From 1993 until 1998, Ms. Shehan served as Vice President, Public Finance, for UMB Bank in Kansas City, Missouri, where she was responsible for marketing municipal bond underwriting services to governmental entities in 6 states. From 1998 until 2001, Ms. Shehan was an Assistant Vice President at The Bank of New York in the corporate trust department, which served as trustee and paying agent for bond issuers in 14 states. From 2001 until 2004, Ms. Shehan was employed as a financial analyst for the Bi-State Development Agency in St. Louis where she prepared and implemented financial plans related to the agency’s operating and capital requirements. From 2004 until 2008, Ms. Shehan served as Office Manager and Legal Assistant for a St. Louis law firm representing municipal bond issuers and underwriters.
